Panel 1

Moderator of panel 1: Response to the energy crisis in the region and EU is prof. Nikola Rajaković, PhD – chairman of the Association of Power Engineers.

The participants will discuss the current problems in the energy sector, both in the region and the rest of Europe, referring to the energy crisis and response of the states from the region and EU member states thereto, its consequences for the region and Europe, i.e. the methods for overcoming the energy crisis in the fastest manner, aimed at reaching the energy stability and establishing connections and networks for the future. Increase in prices of imported energy generating products and uncertainty of their supply justifies the need for introducing RES-based technologies. Development of the energy sector in the region is based on enhancement of energy efficiency and electricity generation from RES.

The panelists are: Jasmina Trhulj (Energy Community Secretariat), Petar Sprčić (HEP), Miroslav Tomašević (JP EPS), Blagoj Gajdardžiski (ESM), Ivan Koprivica (MHERS), Erald Elezi (KESH), Milutin Đukanović (EPCG) and Yann Guinard (EDF).

Panel 2

Panel 2: Optimal energy mix for the future and RES integration challenges will be moderated by Matija Tadić, project manager in the German Development Bank – KfW.

Topic of this panel refers to development of the electric power networks, construction of interconnection capacities, and applying of new technologies in general – the manner of speeding up the integration of renewable energy sources with high quality of service for the end customers, having in mind that the existing network capacities are mainly insufficient. The participants will discuss transition of energy sector in the region via gradual increase and construction of the new capacities based on renewable energy sources, with safe and optimum operation of the energy system at all times.

The panelists are: Ivan Asanović (CGES), Ranko Goić (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split), Jelena Matejić (Elektromreže Srbije AD), Miloš Mladenović (SEEPEX A.D.), Nebojša Arsenijević (UGT Renewables), Maja Turković (CWP Global – Evropa) and Ervin Leko (EP HZHB).

Panel 3

The Panel No. 3 – Implementation and financing of Renewable Energy Projects, will be moderated by Petar Mitrović (Karanović & Parners) and devoted to discussion and exchange of opinions on topical issues and challenges the countries in transition are experiencing in the process of RES Projects implementation. Participants will discuss about methods, modes and sources of RES Projects financing, interest rates and RES Projects financing impacts, FI managements’ decisions on selection of projects to be credited, conditions tailored to specific needs of each client or project.

The panellists are the following: Pablo Obrador Alvarez (KfW), Francesko Corbo (EBRD), Christopher Sheldon (World Bank), Irena Radović (IRF), Yngve Engstroem (EU Delegation to Montenegro), Miro Vračar (EPCG) and Marko Čelebić (NLB).

Panel 4

Ms. Aleksandra Kiković, a UNDP program manager, will be a moderator in the Panel Coal regions in transition – can the transition be fair to all, while Mr. Nikola Rovčanin (EPCG), Mr. Nevad Ikanović (EP B&H), Mrs. Diana Milev Čavor (NGO Eco Team), Mr. Damir Miljević (Centre for sustainable energy transition), Mitja Tašler (TE Šoštanj, HSE), Ms. Jasna Sekulović (GIZ) and Ms. Milka Mumović (Energy Community Secretariat) will be panellists.

Taking into consideration the accelerated strives of EU member states to reach a full decarbonisation by 2050, Montenegro’s commitment to reach 35% reduction in effects of greenhouse gases emission by 2030, the transition from coal and gas to RES has become a predominant focus of Montenegro likewise the regional countries development. Most of the Western Balkans’ countries still get the greatest portion of electricity generated from thermal power plants. Can the transition of coal region be fair to all?
