Pablo Obrador Alvarez

KfW, Head of Division Energy and Transport Southeast Europe and Turkey

Mr. Pablo Obrador is heading the Energy and Mobility Division for South East and Turkey at KfW Development Bank. He received his B.S. on environmental sciences from the Alfonso X El Sabio University in Madrid, Spain, and his M.A. on Environment Policy and Public Management from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. He began his professional career being in charge of analysing climate projects and investments in Asia and Latin America for the Frankfurt based climate investment advisor First Climate GmbH. From 2007 to 2008 he headed First Climate’s Latin American Unit based in Santiago de Chile. In 2008 he joined the Climate Fund of the German State Bank KfW located in KfW’s headquarters in Frankfurt. After his three-year experience as Project Manager responsible of KfW’s Climate Fund’s Latin American portfolio he moved to KfW Development Bank to manage the energy portfolio with of the German financial cooperation with Mexico. At this position he contributed to structure different financing programmes for the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency, mainly in cooperation with multilateral and national development banks. From 2013 to 2017 he acted as Director of KfW`s regional representation office for Mexico, Nicaragua und Costa Rica based in Mexico city. Since 2018 he is heading the Energy and Mobility Division for South East and Turkey at KfW Development Bank at KfW’s Headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
